Wellbeing Software Group has won Medilink’s East Midlands Business Awards’ for ‘Collaboration with the NHS’. Wellbeing was shortlisted for its collaboration with two NHS trusts in commercialising ‘home-grown’ IT solutions, developed by clinicians operating at the coal-face. Winners were announced at a prestigious awards ceremony on Wednesday 10th June at The Nottingham Belfry.
Wellbeing worked with Dr Martin Crowe at Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Trust to commercialise StageCRAFT. The innovative solution computerises the cancer staging process, reducing the need for the Radiologist to refer to a book or rely on memory, mitigating the chance of error or inconsistency. The company also worked with Mr Stephen Lake, Consultant General Surgeon at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust to commercialise eConsent. The solution digitises the patient consent process, to provide clear pre-procedure information for patients, while saving time and improving auditability. Chris Yeowart, Director of Wellbeing Software Group, says: “We are delighted that our partnership approach to working with the NHS was recognised and that we won this award. It makes perfect sense that an IT company such as ours can combine with NHS experts to commercialise solutions which would otherwise be contained within a single NHS Trust. Not only can we release the value of such innovation to the wider NHS, but also an income stream for the host trust can be created.”
