Apollo Medical Software Solutions, the leading supplier of Primary Care data extracts to the NHS and Private Sector in the UK, today announced that the Medicines Evaluation Unit (MEU) Ltd has successfully completed a live pilot of its unique patient communication solution, Apollo AIR.
Launched in 2013, Apollo AIR enables efficient communication with patients by using their preferred method of contact, whether text, letter, email or phone. Incorporating SMS technology and supplemented by a managed mailing service, the solution is proven to reduce DNAs (Did Not Attends), cut costs and reduce administrative time. MEU, one of the UK’s leading contract research organisations specialising in respiratory clinical trials, worked with Apollo to integrate Apollo AIR with their own Patient volunteer database, ICARUS, to a create a complete communications package. The solution enables MEU to contact patients by letter, email, text or phone and to manage incoming communications. ICARUS can search on clinical protocol inclusion criteria, and AIR seamlessly collates this information in order to contact specific patient populations with a predetermined message in their preferred contact medium either by text, letter or email. The pilot began in December 2013 and has been declared a major success, saving both time and money for MEU.
David Rogers, Managing Director of MEU, says: “Using Apollo AIR, we can now send a text to 200 or 2,000 patients with one simple click of the mouse, whereas before we had to manually send each one or make individual phone calls. Using the system saves time and expense; we are spending much less on postage and not having to send so many letters. It is a really efficient system, which aggregates groups for us and manages and collates responses really easily”.
Steve Avery, Managing Director of Apollo, adds: “Apollo was keen to respond to the challenge of adapting its bespoke Campaign Management Software “Air” to MEU’s inherent contact management system “ICARUS”. Combined – the packages offer unrivalled control over campaign management and patient communication, underpinning the ground breaking research projects that MEU specialise in. This new service gives MEU the “finger on the pulse” from campaign start up through to successful clinical trial management”.
